Oneida, NY, on October 17,1933.
Harold and his parents moved to California in 1945, when he was approximately
twelve years old. He graduated from Banning High School in 1953. After
graduation, Harold worked seasonally for the California Department of Forestry
as a fire truck driver at Beaumont. In 1955 Harold was drafted into the Navy.
After serving two years in the Navy, he was discharged and went back to the
California Department of Forestry as a fire truck driver and worked at several Fire
Departments in Riverside County when needed. Approximately 1957, Harold
was assigned to work at the Cherry Valley County Fire Department. After five
years, he took the test for Foreman, passed the test, and was transferred to the
Calimesa Fire Station. After one year, Harold was offered a position as Captain
of a State Fire Station in San Jacinto, which he accepted. After five years, he
transferred to Fire Prevention, which included being a Peace Officer for the State.
Among other duties, he worked in the field of Arson Investigator throughout the
State of California and was Certified by the Courts to be an expert Witness in
arson cases brought to the Courts. He served in this capacity until he retired in
1988.
Harold moved from Beaumont, CA to FL in 1991. In 1992, Harold married his
deceased brother, Kenneth's wife, Jessie Spaulding. In 1996, Harold and his
wife moved to Andrews, NC. Shortly after moving to Andrews, Harold was
pleased to become a Member of the Valleytown Rural Fire Department. He
loved being a fireman most of his life, but thoroughly enjoyed being with the
Valleytown Rural Fire Department because of the close knit community and
people.
Harold and his wife Jessie moved to Palm Bay, FL in 2008.
Harold was a Member of the Public Employee Retirement System in California
and the California Arson Investigation Unit
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Grace Spaulding, a
brother Kenneth in 1988, a brother Paul in 2004, and a sister Anita Harvey in
2004. and brother Willard in 2006.
Harold is survived by his wife, Jessie, of Palm Bay, FL, two daughters, Pam
Forest, Yucaipi, CA, and Christine Nist, Kansas City, MO, and a nephew/stepson,
Jamie Spaulding of Palm Bay, FL.
Harold was of the Baptist faith.
