

John James “Jim” Carnell lived to the age of 69, passing on the 9th of May in this year of our Lord 2025. He passed at his home of 39 years in Port St. John, Florida. Born in Ypsilanti, Michigan, Jim moved to Florida in 1966.
Jim graduated from Merritt Island High School and then went to Orlando college, where he graduated with a bachelor’s in Computer Programming. Jim was dedicated to his work as a programmer for 20 years until he ventured out on his own, working for himself for the last 20 years.
Jim was a lifelong Miami Dolphins fan. He also loved and lived for the outdoors. His passions included boating, lobster diving, fishing, camping, surfing and riding his motorcycle.
His many hobbies included duck hunting, beekeeping, making his own bread and beer, golfing, and gardening. The many that knew him, knew him as a “jack-of-all” trades. He was a dedicated handyman of his home and his family’s vehicles. As a father of four boys, he would take on their passions and develop new skills and talents alongside of his kids. Jim coached baseball for 5 years and obtained his black belt in Tae Kwon Do.
Jim is survived by his wife Renee Carnell; sons Ryan Carnell, Adam Carnell, James (J.D.) Carnell, and stepson Isaac Kois; sister, Shelley Carnell; and four grandchildren, Gabriel, Connor, Ariana, and Kira-Lee.
A celebration of life will be held at Wylie-Baxley Funeral Home, 1360 N. Courtenay Parkway, Merritt Island, FL on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at 10AM, with a reception to follow.
