May 11, 1933 – June 17, 2025
Joyce Phillips, 92, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2025, under Health First Hospice care at Villa Lea in Viera, Florida. Born on May 11, 1933, in Chicago, Illinois, Joyce lived a life grounded in love, family, and quiet strength.
Joyce was the devoted wife of the late Les Phillips, with whom she shared 37 wonderful years. The couple owned and operated Oceanus Mobile Village and RV resort in Cocoa Beach for many years as well as Joyce Apartments. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter Candy and her cherished dog, Muffin, whose memory remained close to her heart.
She is survived by her loving children: daughter Poppy and her husband Jack Durban, daughter Tammy and her husband Vince Ferrando, and her son Tom Phillips and her two sister-in-laws, Joan Lando and Janice Bodinof. Joyce was a proud and deeply loved grandmother to Rachel, Amanda, Daniel, Robby and his wife Jesslynn, Brandon and his wife Brandi and Lana and her husband Jason. Her nieces and nephew - Pam, Pat, Joanne, Danny, Cathy and Jenny along with the rest of her extended family, join in honoring Joyce's memory and celebrating the remarkable woman she was to all.
Joyce will be remembered for her kind heart, her devotion to her family, and her ability to be fair but firm. She filled her life with simple pleasures—watching Hallmark movies, taking Muffin for walks, shopping with her daughters and decorating her house for Christmas. She brought warmth and laughter to those lucky enough to know her.
A funeral service with reception will be held to honor her life on June 26th at 11am at Wylie-Baxley Funeral Home 1360 N. Courtenay Parkway, Merritt Island, FL. with a Committal service to follow at 1:15pm at Brevard Memorial Park 320 Spring St. Cocoa, FL.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a local animal shelter in memory of Muffin, or to a hospice organization of your choice.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
