Linda Joan Marez passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday January 17, 2018 at her home in Cocoa Beach, Florida, at age 76. She was born June 26, 1941 to Daisy and Arthur Huggins in Rome, Georgia.
Linda was a loving and dedicated Wife and Mother to four children. She was the tenacious founder and chair of the Cobb Citizens Action Committee for Justice, and a proud graduate of MMC Nail Institute. Linda was an entrepreneur and business owner of the extremely successful Lil L’s Nails Salon and Boutique, Sugar Daddy Rags, and Wonderworks Inc., in Marietta, GA. She retired to Florida in 1995, but continued to stay busy working as an aesthetician, seamstress, and as a welcoming host for visiting family, whom she adored. She enjoyed the simple pleasures of good music, great food, and the warm beach. Her personality and a smile could light up any room, and to know her was to love her.
Linda is predeceased by her mother and father, Daisy and Arthur, her brothers, Bobby and Elmer “Junior,” and her sisters, Patricia and Helen. She will be dearly missed by her friends, notably “Flo” Carlson. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her “Partner in Crime” Luther Branch and in those of her loving children: Trinnie Marez, Marcie Sanders, Martin Marez, and David Marez, as well as all her adoring grandchildren, and of course her most faithful furry companion, Daisy Chanel.
The family will greet friends for visitation on Friday, January 26, 2018 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm and again on Saturday, January 27th from 10:00am to 11:00am at Brevard Memorial Funeral Home, 5475 North Us Highway 1, Cocoa, FL 32927. The memorial service will follow, beginning at 11:00am on Saturday, January 27, 2018, to pay last respects and to see our beloved Linda off proper.
The memorial service will be followed by a celebration of Linda's very well-lived life. We will celebrate in the joy of our memories of her, and we will join together in a hefting of a defiant middle finger to cancer for trying to steal that joy. Please join us at 12:30pm Saturday, January 27, 2018, in Cocoa Beach, Fl. A colorful dress code would be appreciated, as black was not her color.
