Born on July 3, 1979, she lived her life to the fullest. Originally born in the Azores Portugal, Lorena became a U.S. citizen in 2022. That same year, she graduated from The Florida Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Arts in Human Resource Management. Lorena loved children and decided to become a permanent substitute teacher. In 2024, her dream job became reality. Lorena passed all tests required by Florida Statute and became a State of Florida Department of Education Certified Kindergarten Teacher K through 3. Lorena was a substitute at MILA Elementary on Merritt Island; one of the few area schools she had substituted at since 2021. Lorena chose MILA Elementary to apply full time - the school she loved; and where her children attended, to fulfill her Lifetime dream of Teaching Kindergarten.
Lorena will lovingly be remembered by her husband, Patrick, her children, Bella, William, Sophie, Daniel, and Maddie and her students and colleagues. Lorena touched so many people lives in such a short amount of time with her poise, dedication and love of Life.
A private Celebration of Life will take place on July 1, 2025. In lieu of flowers, donations to Brevard Schools Foundation would be appreciated or Health First Cancer Center and/or Health First Hospice Care.
