Louis Gliozzi passed peacefully in his sleep in the morning of July 9th at his assisted living home in Merritt Island Florida. He grew up along the Cuyahoga River in Kent Ohio, where he learned his passion of fishing which continued to only a few weeks before his death. He also met the love of his life, Laura Peterson in Kent while she was attending college. Only a few weeks after their marriage on Oct. 13, 1943 Uncle Sam called him to serve his country in Nazi Germany.
After the war he and Laura spent most of their marriage raising their children on the family farm in Beloit, Ohio. In addition to fishing Louis enjoyed golfing and gardening. He also enjoyed watching football, especially rooting for Ohio State and Penn State Universities.
The couple celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in 2013. Laura passed in Nov. 2013. Louis is survived by his children Lynne (Bob) Thomson of Baltimore, Maryland; Liz (Nick) Davis of Merritt Island, Florida; Larry (Denise Ostopo) Gliozzi of New Jersey; two brothers: James Gliozzi of Littleton, Colorado; Carmen Gliozzi of Kent, Ohio. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, great and grand. Always a character, he kept his sense of humor until the end, being playfully ornery with the caring staff of aids and nurses who were in charge of his care.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the macular degeneration research of the BrightFocus Foundation at https://www.brightfocus.org/donate or calling 800-437-2423.
