Michael Lynn Hattaway, 70, passed away peacefully on Tuesday September 22, 2020, surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren. As a husband, he put his wife above all others. He worked hard to provide for his children that they might grow up with a strong foundation and he adored his grandchildren and cherished the time he spent with them. He treated everyone he met with sincerity and kindness. His generosity and kindness will never be forgotten by those whose lives he touched.
Michael was born to JB and Eva (Tidrick) Hattaway in Columbia, South Carolina on October 25, 1949 and moved to Florida in 1959. Although they moved several times, being a military family, Michael met his wife of 51 years, Carolyn, while they were in the 8th grade and married her on June 24, 1969. They lived in Brevard County, where Michael retired from Kennedy Space Center in 2015 as a high voltage electrician. He enjoyed watching his children play softball, football, baseball, cheerleading and marching in band. He was a guardian ad litem and foster parent to many children in the local area. He enjoyed reading, fishing and celebrating holidays with big family dinners.
He is survived by his wife Carolyn; daughter, Shellie Hattaway; daughter, Tammie Hilton and her son Michael; son, Tracy Hattaway and his wife Mandie and their children Brandon and Hailey; son, Christopher and his wife Krystel and their children Addison, Meredith and Violet; daughter Jacquelin and her sons, Daniel and Jackson. He is also survived by his 2 brothers and 3 sisters and many nieces and nephews.
Michael was loved by many and will be greatly missed until we meet him again in Heaven.
Friends and family will be received from 10:30-11:00 am on Friday, September 25, 2020 at Brevard Memorial Funeral Home, 5475 North US Highway 1, Cocoa, FL with a Funeral Service following at 11:00 am.
