Susan K. Hays

Mrs. Hays was originally from Cheverly, Maryland. She moved to Brevard County in 1972 and has been a resident ever since. She graduated with honors from the University of Central Florida, majoring in Business and minoring in Theater. After graduation, she managed several commercial establishments before starting her own business, Hologram World, which she ran from 1986 to 1992. She then worked as a realtor and briefly worked in timeshare sales. She truly believed in value of vacations and it came across in her presentation, making her one of the rare timeshare sales reps who people actually liked. She frequently corresponded with her clients, who became life-long friends. She retired from real estate in 2006.

She was very active in her community as a breeder of Miniature Schnauzers, a member of the Brevard County Dog Training Club and Brevard Kennel Club. An enthusiastic crafter, she also participated in the Space Coast Ceramic Club. She was an avid scuba diver and underwater photographer. She traveled extensively in Europe and Asia as well as the U.S. She loved music and the theater, and enjoyed attending bluegrass festivals. She was an excellent canasta player.

Survivors include her husband Joel Todd Hays of Cape Canaveral, and her daughter Jennifer L. Harrison of Merritt Island.

Viewing will be from 2 to 3 pm, followed by a Funeral Service at 3pm on Wednesday January 26, 2011 at Brevard Memorial Funeral Home, 5475 N. US Highway 1, cocoa Fl 32927.
