Teresa Battell came into this world on March 22, 1953 the daughter of John (Red) and Lucille May. When she was five, her family moved from Gastonia, North Carolina to Florida, where she graduated from Cocoa High School in 1971 where she excelled in honor classes. She was a member of the Future Secretaries Association (FSA) that help started her career with Brevard County Schools, where she retired after 34 years as an Administrative Assistant. After retiring she became involved with the American Legion Auxiliary where she volunteered as secretary and chaired several committees. She loved game shows especially "Wheel of Fortune" and always knew the answers before the contestants. She enjoyed league bowling with her family and friends for over 20 years. But her favorite past time was BINGO.
Teresa was an amazing writer and poet. Her poems that she wrote will continue to echo, in the hearts of those fortunate enough to receive them. Teresa believed in family and was a terrific mother, grandmother, aunt and sister.
She was predeceased by her parents, sister Cynthia Butler, and grandson Riley Fowler.
Teresa is survived by her sons, Michael and Joe Burton of Cocoa, devoted companion Randal Carman, her brother Buster May (Sue) from North Carolina, sister Valorie Helmer (Jim) from Cocoa, brother James May (Denise) from Orange Park, granddaughters Jasmine Baderman and Sierra Burton, Palm Bay, great granddaughter Nadia, and grandson Kyle Baderman, Titusville. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews living in Florida, North Carolina and Louisiana.
Teresa brought light, laughter, and joy, and fun into this world and she left it here for everyone who knew her to remember her quick wit, her smile, her tireless devotion to causes she believed in, so that we might remember her smiles, not tears. She will be dearly missed.
