Ted was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Cocoa. At various stages in his long life, he called Merritt Island, Cocoa, Canaveral Groves and Port St. John his home. He graduated Cocoa High School in 1955 and later worked at a local grocer, service station, and Nesbits Oil before opening LaRoche Chevron on the corner of Plumosa and SR 520 on Merritt Island, which he owned and operated for 28 years with his wife Virginia and his children until his retirement. Ted and Virginia enjoyed their retirement with cruises to various ports of call and traveling the US in RVs, visiting a great number of national and state parks, and more than one casino, as well as “leaf-peeping” trips to watch the leaves change colors and a month of traveling in Asia.
His parents Elsie and Benjamin LaRoche, his brother Ben and his son Wayne preceded Ted in passing, while he is survived by his wife of 57 years Virginia, and his other children Dee Dee, Debbie, Nick and Cheryl, his grandchildren Andrew, Spencer, Kyle, Nat, Luke, Mitchel and Cassandra, and his great-grandchildren, Audrey, Gwendalyn, Midori, Aurora, Adelaide, Thor and Emory.
Services for Ted will be held Nov. 7 at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Cocoa located at 750 Brevard Ave., Cocoa, FL 32922, followed by a reception.
