Vincent Peter Ugarte Jr.

Vincent was born in Cornwall, NY and grew up in Brooklyn, NY and then Newburgh, NY where he spent most of his younger years, graduated high school and joined the service. He served eight years in the US Naval Reserve while working full time for the local NY telephone company where his focus and expertise was in electronics and telecommunications. In 1963 he married the love of his life, Fannie Ugarte. He had two children from his first marriage and later had three more children from his latest marriage to Fannie and he was a wonderful father and husband. He took a job transfer in 1963 to Southern Bell Telephone Company in Cocoa Beach, Florida, where he worked as a technician and finally a manager until his retirement after 36 years of service. Vincent was also an active volunteer fireman for North Merritt Island Volunteer Fire Department for many years, and was the Chief for part of those years as well. After retirement from the telephone company, he started and ran a small, successful telecom business from which he retired a second time, leaving two of his children to continue his legacy. He truly was a man of integrity and honesty and loved his family very much.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Fannie D. Ugarte, and his survivors include daughter Pilar Ugarte Stanley of Rockledge, FL, daughter Yvonne Simmons and son-in-law Wayne Simmons of Merritt Island, FL, daughter Caroline Rowe of Merritt Island, FL, son Vincent P. Ugarte III and daughter-in-law Kate Ugarte of Merritt Island, FL, daughter Deborah Ugarte Burney of Michigan, and sister, Carole Ostergren of Merritt Island, FL. He was also survived by 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He will be missed very much by all of us.

***A small private graveside service for immediate family, siblings and grandchildren will be held on September 6th, at 11:00 am at Brevard Memorial Park, 320 Spring St, Cocoa, FL 32927.

***On October 4th, at 3:00pm, a public Celebration of Life service for all family and friends who would like to attend, will be held at Lighthouse Christian Church located at 1250 N Banana Drive, Merritt Island, FL 32952.
