Wilbert Figley Bell, 97 yrs old, died comfortably at his home in Apopka, FL on Sunday, July 25, 2021. He was born in Beaver County, Pennsylvania December 31,1923 to parents, Charles and Anna Christina (Figley) Bell .
Wilbert had a playful nature for teasing others. Whenever his grey eyes started to twinkle, there was some mischievous activity and laughter forthcoming!
Wilbert loved playing cards, dancing, and singing &strumming country music on the guitar. He was always tinkering on a project even in his last week of life and was a self taught man in many ways. He loved figuring out how things worked and shared his knowledge with others especially his children and grandchildren.
He was a member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Longwood and the VFW post in Apopka.
Wilbert served our country during WWII serving in the Army 787th Field Artillery along with his twin brother,Tom. Mr. Bell was an electrician and worked at J&L steel mills in Aliquippa, Pa, at the Kennedy Space Center during moon launches, PB&I in Rochester, Pa, and Allegheny Plastics in N.Washington, Pa before becoming disabled.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 yrs, Pauline (Buss), his son, David, and by his siblings Ruth New, Doris Haskins, Thomas and James. Surviving are his children: Deborah Carswell, Daniel Bell (James Watson), Dorcas Stewart, & Ruth Seals (Kenneth).
Nine grandchildren- Christopher Carswell (Brittany), Tabitha Stewart Bowser(West), Amanda Stewart Haniwalt(Steve), Timothy Carswell, Audrey Seals, Jessica Stewart Swope,Sarah Seals Smith(Ricky), Megan Bell and Michael Bell and 6 great grandchildren-Emma,Maggie, Wyatt Bowser, Blaine Swoop, Ciella and Cameron Carswell and his dog Willy III. In addition many loving nieces and nephews will miss him.
A Celebration of Life service and graveside burial will be held August 5, 2021 at Brevard Memorial Funeral Home, (5475 N US HWY 1 Cocoa, Florida, 32927).
Viewing will be held at 11:00 a.m. with memorial service at 12:00, officiated by Pastor Chris Tabone.
