July 4, 1936 – January 3, 2025
William Edgar Wurtz, lovingly known as Bill, passed away on February 3, 2025, in Cocoa, Florida, at the age of 88. He was born on July 4, 1936, in Scottdale, Michigan, to Samuel and Emma Wurtz. Bill lived in Oxford, Michigan, for 53 years and had a dedicated career at General Motors. In later years, he and his wife made their home in Cocoa, Florida, and Irons, Michigan, enjoying the best of both places.
Bill was a devoted husband to his wife, Harriet, and a loving father to his sons and their wives: Gary and Sue, John and Karen, and Phillip and Tina. He was also a cherished grandfather to Gary, Bird, Kevin, Sophia, Cynthia, Miranda, Aaron, and Noah. Bill’s love extended beyond his immediate family, as he was a wonderful uncle to his many nieces and nephews.
Bill lived life to the fullest and was always the life of the party. He loved bowling, dancing, snowmobiling, deer hunting, and simply having a good time with family and friends. He had a remarkable ability to make people laugh and brighten any room he entered. A hardworking and dependable man, Bill was the go-to guy for anything—always ready to help, fix, or lend a hand when needed.
A service will be held in Bill’s honor on February 27, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, located at 5525 US Hwy 1 N, Mims, FL 32754. Following the service, a Celebration of Life and lunch will take place at Lost Lakes Community Clubhouse, 104 Lost Lake Dr, Cocoa, FL 32926.
Bill’s presence, laughter, and kindness will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
