

Born August 8, 1928, Charles was the son of Clara and John Harshaw of Conneaut Lake Pennsylvania. He was a graduate of the 1946 class of Conneaut Lake High School. Charles began study at Commercial College in Erie, PA in 1946. Charles was engaged in real estate sales from 1948-1950. He enrolled in the Navy in 1950 and served during the conflict with Korea, until being honorably discharged in 1954. He received many service commendations including a National Defense Service medal and a United Nations Service Medal before he was hit by friendly fire shrapnel and severely wounded. Upon his recovery he returned to PA and began his employment at Protane Corporation as a bulk tank delivery driver of propane gas. Charles was hired by Great Plains Gas in 1968 as a Division Manager and was consistently promoted until reaching the level of Regional Vice-President of the National Propane Corporation in 1984. Upon retiring from National Propane in 1994 he founded a consultancy firm, Harshaw and Associates, and remained working until suffering a massive stroke in December of 2010.
Charles married Eva Jean Brooks in 1961. He is survived by Eva Jean and their son, Craig. Charles is also survived by six siblings Grace Luptack of North Carolina, Hazel Fields, Francis Ann Kurt, Larry Harshaw, Sherry Carty all of Florida and Darlene Tuell of CA. He was preceded in death by two siblings Betty McGuire and Jack Harshaw both of whom were life long residents of Conneaut Lake, PA. He is also survived by many beloved nephews and nieces.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 23, 2015 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at Putnam Funeral Home in Coldwater, MI. There will be a funeral service held at his grave site in Pennsylvania.
