

Don was a building contractor at AMI in Northfield Hills, MI for many years.
Don was a veteran of WWII serving as a Gunner’s Mate in the U.S. Navy and continued to be very patriotic all his life and was a member of the V.F.W. He was a local poet who wrote and shared his poetry with many friends. He was an antique car buff who loved going to shows and over the years won many trophies. He was a God fearing man who loved his local community. In his younger years he enjoyed bowling.
He is survived by a daughter, Carrin (Randy Meredith) Humphrey of Kinderhook, 4 grandchildren; Dale (Shannon) Fisher, Kandy (Tyler) Elkins, Chris Fisher, Misty (Craig) Elkins, many great grandchildren, his former wife and best friend, Dorothy Newman of Coldwater, and a nephew, Harold Nichols. Don was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, James, 2 sisters, Kathryn Johnson and Dorothy Nichols.
Full military honors will take place Thursday, March 17, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, MI.
