Leona May Hillborg

Bethel, Michigan on February 12, 1924 to Albert Myron Gehring and Grace (Ward) Gehring. She grew up in Coldwater and graduated from Coldwater High School.

On March 1, 1948 she married William F. Hillborg and they resided at their home on River Road in Coldwater until her husband's death in 1999. She worked for many years at Federal Mogel in Coldwater until she retired. She enjoyed working in her flower beds and gardening. she also enjoyed animals of all kinds and her pets.

She was preceded in death by a fiancée Bernard A. "Carty" Carrathers who was killed in action in France during WWII; her husband Bill of 51 years; brothers Max (Marguerite) and Merle Gehring; and sister Marian(Homer) Langwell. Surviving are several nieces and nephews and their families.

A private graveside memorial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery in Coldwater. Memorials can be made to the Branch County Humane Society; Southern Care Hospice Services of Jackson, MI; Drew's Place of Coldwater, or to an organization of the donor's choice.
