

Mark J. Perry was born August 14, 1948 in Charlotte, Michigan, however, he lived most of his life in Branch County. Mark passed away on January 13, 2013 at the Community Health Center of Branch County after a short illness, surrounded by his family. He was the son of Mr. & Mrs. Raymond (Anna) Finley.
Mark joined the service and served his country honorably during the Vietnam War as a driver for an Armored Personnel Carrier with the Black Horse Troop, 11 armored Calvary Division. His bravery earned him many medals including the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.
At age 30 he suffered a head injury in a trucking accident. He was cared for by his devoted mother and stepfather for 19 years and then lived at Hope Network Rehabilitation Center (formerly Coach House Rehabilitation Center) for 15 years, where he was well cared for and loved by all the staff.
Mark had a great sense of humor, a love for westerns, horses and John Wayne. Throughout his life he continued to participate in the services and activities the veterans provided. He and his family took pride in his patriotism and service to his country.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Anna Finley. He is survived by his two siblings; Susan (Perry) Van Landingham and husband Rick of Middlebury, IN and John and Carla (Voss) Perry of Union City. He also leaves behind his stepfather, Raymond Finley of Quincy, two sons, Matt Schmader and wife Tracy and Jason Perry, 5 nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on January 18, 2013 at 12:00 Noon with one hour of visitation prior to the service at the Putnam Funeral Home in Coldwater with Pastor David Pierce officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the local Viet Nam Veterans.
