I had the good fortune to meet Doug in the late '90s when I transferred to the VA WRO. He was knowledgeable, friendly and certainly made my adjustment to a new location easier. He introduced me to many people who joined him in developing wonderful friendships, especially his wife, Renee a beautiful thoughtful person. Even as they moved to other locations, we always kept in touch. I'm so grateful for having shared many good times and memories with him, his loving wife and friends. May he rest in peace 🙏🏽

Renee and Family.  I am praying for you to find healing through the Lord's love. Take comfort in knowing that He is always by your side. Our deepest sympathies and prayers are with you through this loss. May God watch over you and comfort you.  Revelation 21:4. 'He will wipe every tear from their eyes.   Sharon and I are unable to attend the memorial service this weekend.  We sent flowers to the funeral home.  Douglas' act of servant leadership will always be remembered.  His consummate service to our nation's veterans is commendable.  It was love at first sight when he first met you.  Everything from that moment on was about Renee. Douglas was a dear, dear friend whose passing was too early for a man who I felt had so much more to contribute on this side of life. I will miss our marathon conversations covering every aspect of life and his intelligent views on so many things we spoke of.  I always felt comfortably telling him how much I valued him as a friend.  I will miss him a great deal and hope to see him again someday on God’s heavenly shore. Rest in peace, dear friend. Renee, to  you, my deepest sympathy and may God surround you with love and an abundance of grace.

You've heard the term co-workers.  In those days we existed as a family away from home.  We had many smiles, plenty of laughs and few frowns.  Dough was a very welcoming personality.  Now and then, like most families, we would agree to disagree, but it never ever overshadowed our love.  My Brother rest peacefully.  I will see you again in Heaven.

The first time Jen and I visited Douglas and Renee was in St. Louis, although this picture was taken in Atlanta.  I woke up to the smell of Douglas cooking breakfast in the kitchen.  He was cooking fried potatoes with onions, smoked sausage,  scrambled eggs and toast. He called it, "The St. Louis breakfast ". What a way to start your day. Made us feel right at home. Love that dude.

In Deepest Sympathy, You are in my thoughts and prayers during this sad time. I first met Mr. Bragg when I started work at the VA at 211 Main St. SF, CA. 

Douglas & Renee Flew in from California to Celebrate my Husband’s 50th Birthday and that meant soo much to us.   I always thought of him as the “ Man of Knowledge”
There was rarely a Subject he could not speak about.    You are Truly Missed 🌹❤️🙏

Douglas Bragg aka Uncle Doug was like a second father,
Who provided advise with love and understanding,
Offering his assistance when needed,
A considerate man who did not judge with bias words or negative intensions.
One thing is for sure he liked driving Lincoln Continental cars.
I asked why. He said, “It has plenty of space, a large trunk, and if anyone hits the car their car will be destroyed, and I’ll still be driving. Plus, I look good in it”.
Uncle Doug liked looking polished, dapper, with a debonair flare.  
He once told me picking out a nice pair of shoes can aggrandize an outfit.
His words of wisdom will always be with me along with the love in my heart for him.
Uncle Doug you will be missed but never forgotten.


Uncle Doug and Aunt Renee snuck into town to surprise my mom (his sister) at her 65th birthday celebration! It was such a wonderful night!! I’m going to miss him terribly. 

Mr. Bragg and I got to know each other during one of our VA leadership courses in 2008.  On one of our training trips to Atlanta, I followed him to a small diner to get breakfast as I knew he would have good taste in Southern food.  I joked with him that we must have bonded over our love for shrimp and grits because four years later, he hired me to be his assistant director at the Oakland Regional Office.  This changed the trajectory of my life, and I am forever grateful for myself and my family.  One of the last times we spoke was on Thanksgiving 2020.  We talked about our families, and I heard how proud he was to be the patriarch of his family.  We will miss his warm heart and bravery.
