

Edward Maurice Kennedy affectionately known as “Ed” or “Bro,” was born on May 6, 1941, to Robert and Bernice Kennedy in Birmingham, Alabama. He graduated from Hooper City High School in 1959 and earned a Bachelor of Science in Instrumental Music from Florida A & M University (FAMU) in 1963. During his undergraduate years, he became a proud member of the Omega Psi Phi fraternity.
In September 1965, Ed was drafted into the United States Army, where he served honorably as a Specialist Fourth Class (SP4). After his military service, he dedicated more than 30 years to Fulton County Juvenile Court Services, retiring in 1995.
Ed transitioned to be with his heavenly family on December 19, 2024. He leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and cherished memories.
He is survived by: A devoted daughter: Karmen Kennedy of Montgomery, Alabama; Two sisters: Carole Kennedy and Sherry Curry of Atlanta, Georgia; Nieces and nephews: Harry Studdard Jr. of Mobile, Alabama, Gina Vann of Mobile, Alabama, Lisa Johnson of Woodstock, Georgia, Teddy King of Cleveland, Ohio, Lori King of Atlanta, Georgia, Ryan Wilburg of Atlanta, Georgia, Vince Curry of Manhattan, New York, Adrienne Curry of Atlanta, Georgia, Genene Curry of Asheville, North Carolina, Carla Kennedy of Birmingham, Alabama; Devoted cousins: Bertram Orum of Birmingham, Alabama, and Laurette Hall of Huntersville, North Carolina
Ed will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the honor of knowing him. His spirit and love will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched.
