Elizabeth J Hendrick was born Elizabeth Johnson on July 25th, 1937, in Baker County, Albany GA. She was one of several children born to Idus Mosley and Rebecca Burns, her siblings were: Rosie, Pep, Bo, Willie Mae, Nathelia, Polly and Doletha. At a young age, Elizabeth moved with her family to Easton, Pennsylvania, where she grew up. She was known for her kind and nurturing spirit, with a sweet disposition that earned her the affectionate nickname “Sweets.” However, beneath her gentle nature, she also had a feisty side that made her unforgettable.
Sweets later moved to New York City, where she pursued modeling, and eventually met her former husband, Frederic Hendrick, on a subway train. The two were an active and vibrant couple, enjoying life together until they were blessed with a son, Eric. Embracing motherhood wholeheartedly, Elizabeth dedicated herself to raising Eric, choosing to stay home for the first five years of his life. They had one child together, and her devotion as a mother was unwavering.
Elizabeth deeply loved her siblings and often travelled to Pennsylvania to visit them. She was also very close to Fred's side of the family, spending a great deal of time with them, something made easy by the fact that they lived just five blocks away. During her years in New York City, Liz built a long and fulfilling career at GHI insurance company where she worked for over 25 years before retiring. Her warm yet feisty nature made her a beloved colleague and she formed lasting friendships. Her strong sense of justice and leadership led her to serve as assistant shop steward, where she represented and mediated on behalf of union employees.
Liz eventually left Queens, New York to be closer to her son and two grandchildren in Newnan, Georgia. Returning to her home state, she cherished every moment spent with her family especially her grandchildren. She found joy in family trips, cookouts, and even bonding over WWF wrestling with them. Just as she had in her modeling days, Liz remained enthusiastic about her appearance and well-being. Her dedication to health and fitness led her to become a part owner of USA Fitness gym in Fayetteville GA where she continued to inspire those around her.
Sister Elizabeth was a devoted Christian who took her faith seriously. She was a committed member of World Changers Church International, attending services regularly either in person or on television. Her dedication to serving others extended beyond attendance. She was an active member of the church community, serving faithfully in the usher’s department and the women's restroom ministry.
