Eric Maxwell Porter

Mr. Eric(Ricky) Porter, age 68, of Cartersville, GA, passed away July 17, 2017. Mr. Porter was born in Cartersville, GA, December 13, 1948. At an early age he started playing sports such as basketball, football, swimming. He went on to become the head coach of a youth baseball team which included his son at Welcome All Park in College Park, GA. Mr. Porter graduated from Summer Hill High School, Cartersville, GA in 1967. He went on to obtain a Bachelors of Arts in Mathematics from Clark College in Atlanta,GA in 1971. Eric Porter retired from Hewlett Packard after 29 years of service. HIs hobbies included playing tennis as a long time member of the Ben Hill Tennis Association (ALTA) in Atlanta, GA and spending time with family and friends. Surviving are wife; Zandra Renee Ross Porter, son; Eric D. Porter, daughter; Mrs. Tanya T. Porter, grandchildren; Daija, Aaron, Alana, Rashaad, Jr., Reagan, brother; Tony Porter. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 29, 2017 at 1:00pm at Forest Lawn Funeral Home 5755 Mallory Road College Park, Ga 30349. Interment Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday evening, July 28, 2017 from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
