Kory Terrell Morrow was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on October 13, 1973, to Doris and Nelson Morrow. Kory was received by the Lord at an early age. He was baptized by Pastor George Mueller at Bethany Lutheran Church in St. Louis, Missouri.
Kory's parents instilled the importance of education in his life. Kory attended kindergarten at Holy Name Catholic School and then transitioned to Farragut Elementary Scholl (St. Louis, MO) from first grade through sixth grade. He was later accepted to participate in St. Louis' Magnet School Program for Gifted Students during his middle and high school years. He subsequently attended Mallinckrodt Academy and the Academy of Math & Science. Kory excelled academically and was an honor roll student. After graduating from high school in 1991, Kory went on to attend Tuskegee University, where he earned his bachelor's degree in Physics and then on to earn a master's degree at the University of Alabama in Birmingham.
Kory married Karimah (Scott) on June 17, 2000. From this union, they were blessed with three children - Khairi Anylah Morrow (Buk Buk), Khary Jasilias Morrow (Big Man), and Khadin James Morrow (Runt Runt).
Kory worked for Bruker Daltonics in Weymouth, MA for six years. He was transferred to Atlanta, Georgia in 2005. Hence the family moved from Boston to Atlanta, where Kory soon transitioned to working with the Waters Corporation as a Systems Engineer only to Progress through different career levels to eventually become a Principal Systems Specialist. No matter where Kory was, he found a basketball team to play on or be a part of the coaching staff. From the YMCA - Quincy, MA, NETS where he was known as "OAK" to various teams with the Fairburn Flames, Excel Basketball, Triple Threat, etc., where he became known as "Coach Morrow." Kory also had a love for football and baseball, which afforded him opportunities to coach his sons. He took time to invest in the young men whose paths he crossed. Many of them were given personal nicknames based on the potential he saw in them.
Kory was a good father, husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He was kind, thoughtful, and generous with his time and knowledge. Kory tutored many in math and science, picked up and dropped off many after practice/games. When he told stories, debated politics, or sports his deep laughter was infectious.
Kory had a circle of friends throughout his transitions ~He was one of the "Four Horsemen" and one of the Fairburn Flames "Fathers on the Fence." He was also known to many as "OAK" because of the way he played basketball, but also because he was like an Oaktree - hard to move, firm, solid, and dependable. Many came to see Kory as the go-to man/dad~ from dance to volleyball to basketball, football, and baseball. He was an intelligent man beyond books smarts - he could fix anything and if it initially stumped him, he'd figure it out.
Kory entered into Eternal Rest on September 8, 2020. He leaves to cherish the memories and celebrate his life, a loving wife of 20 years, Karimah Arsharee Scott-Morrow; their three children, Khairi, Khary, and Khadin; his parents, Doris and Nelson Morrow of St. Louis, Missouri; two brothers, Chris (Lisa) of Lake St. Charles, Missouri and Jason (Monique) of St. Louis, Missouri; in-laws Robert and Tina Scott of Montgomery, Alabama; one sister-in-law, Kaleelah Scott of Tampa, Florida; three nieces, Cierra Ann Morrow, Jayla Morrow, Maleah Morrow, and one nephew, Jaden Morrow of St. Louis, Missouri; and a host of other relatives, and close friends.
