Louistine Riggins-Battle—affectionately known as “Tina”—entered this world on July 27, 1951, born to the proud parents, the late Josie Irene and Louis Oliver Riggins, Jr. She was blessed with incredible potential and was the third of six children born to this union: Dorothy Jean, Gregory, Linda Diane, Reginald, and Earl. On March 12, 2025, Louistine answered the clarion call to rest—Heaven Bound!
Louistine was raised in a loving Christian home and, at an early age, joined Iconium Baptist Church. As a young adult, she professed a heartfelt faith in Christ and continued to serve God unreservedly and with humility at Zion Hill Baptist Church. She found joy and purpose in service, becoming an avid member of various auxiliaries, including the Usher Board, the Health Ministry, and the July Club. Her unwavering faith and commitment to community service reflected the kindness and strength she exhibited throughout her life.
Educated in the Atlanta Public Schools, Louistine excelled academically. After graduating from S.H. Archer High School, she continued her studies at Morris Brown College in Atlanta, Georgia. While in attendance, she was recruited as one of the first African American airline stewardesses with Delta Airlines. Later, she embarked on a successful career at Prime Cable, navigating its transitions through Time Warner, MediaOne, Comcast, and what is now Xfinity. Additionally, Louistine pursued her passion for real estate, becoming a dedicated Realtor and Broker, leading to her retirement from Better Homes & Gardens Real Estate Metro Brokers.
Louistine lived a remarkable life defined by grace and unwavering dedication to her family, church, and friends. She shared many wonderful years with the love of her life, Reynard Battle, who transitioned to eternal rest in 2017. Their marriage was built on mutual respect, deep faith in God, and a shared love for family gatherings, sports events, traveling, and—above all—helping and serving others.
Above all, Louistine was a pillar of love, wisdom, and beauty, always ensuring that those around her felt supported and cherished. Her fearless nature, grace, and compassion will forever be remembered. Her legacy of adoration, resilience, and a peaceful spirit is an inspiration to all.
She leaves to treasure her memory two sisters: Dorothy Jean Mingo and Linda Diane Turner; three brothers: Gregory (Gloria) Riggins, Reginald Riggins, and Dr. Earl (Adrienne) Riggins; ten nieces and nephews: Corliss Y. Turner, Carla E. Turner (Maceo), Akeya Works Riggins, Juwana Riggins Simon, Robin Mingo, Brittany Riggins Alston (Ty), Brent Riggins, Anthony Riggins, Joshua Riggins, and step-son Khalid Battle; six great-nieces and great-nephews: Amonado Riggins, Reina Riggins, Mya Y.
