Mrs. Marie (Toto) Ronare Renard born Pyrrhon, went quietly home to the Lord on March 3, 2022 at the age of 86. She was the daughter of the late Marmonvil Pyrrhon and Marie Phanise Pierre, of Hinche, Haiti.
She is predeceased by her parents, her brothers Mirabeau Jean Gilles, Rochefort and Grandvil Pyrrhon, her sister Louisine Jean Gilles, and her husband Joseph Gerard Renard.
Her fondest childhood memories as she vividly recalled include watching her dad make rapadou (solid form of unrefined cane sugar shaped into a tubular rod), and helping her mom make sausages using a mortar. Ronare obtained her education from “L’Ecole Nationale des Filles” and “Lycee Dumarsais Estime” de Hinche. She went on to pursue her LPN certificate and excelled at her vocation at the “L’Hopital de Ste Therese” of Hinche, from 1962-1979. She was regarded as an expert IV insertion nurse that was heavily relied upon by both doctors and her peers to handle difficult cases. In addition, her talent and dedication lead her to become an essential participant in difficult deliveries, and she saved countless lives in the maternity ward. She loved helping others, and her unselfishness was demonstrated in many ways, especially towards the indigent who did not have enough money to seek medical assistance or obtain necessary medications. Oftentimes, after working long hours, even some weekends, she would be found distributing medical supplies and medications she’d personally purchased and making house calls attending to the sick. That sense of unselfishness manifested itself earlier in her teenage years, when Ronare’s father passed away leaving her mother with a newborn. Without a second thought, she interrupted her formative education to help her mother.
Ronare emigrated to the US in 1980, seeking work in order to eventually afford the rest of her family better opportunities in the states. She worked arduously as a live-in assistant to pave a better road for her family, until they joined her in 1986. Although petite, she was one of the strongest women to walk this earth. She was a fiercely dedicated mother to all her children. God came first, followed by her family - a priceless value she instilled in all of her children. The gap left by her absence is impossible to fill. For those who knew her, she was a source of faith, courage, dignity, resilience, responsibility, unselfishness and love. Throughout her life, she held an unwavering faith in God and was baptized as born again Christian in 2018.
She took great pleasure in playing dominos, singing, dancing, gardening, reading the Bible, traveling and doing crossword puzzles. She also loved keeping in touch with family and friends through phone calls and visits.
In deep pain and in great hope of being reunited again, she leaves her children; Ernst Renard, Rachel Renard, Geralde (Moise) Maxi, Iderle (Jean Robert) Ferdinand, and Margareth Renard Larrieux, her grandchildren (her boubous); Pamela Andre, Stephan Maxi, Micaëlle Larrieux, Noagh Renard Desir, Jonathan Ferdinand, Joshua Maxi, Jasmine Ferdinand and Jeanelle Ferdinand, her brother; Vulgard Pyrrhon, her sister; Aviole Calizaire, her aunt; Mme Arnold Pierre, and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Condolences are also extended to the Pyrrhon, Jean-Gilles and Pierre family.
“I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die.” John 11:25-26
