Roy B. Holmes was born December 31, 1952, to the late Willie Emmett and Lillian Holmes in Fort Pierce, Florida. On Tuesday, October 18, 2022, he passed away peacefully at Emory Hospital at the age of 69. He graduated from Lincoln Park Academy High School class of 1970 and Indian River Community College both in Ft Pierce, Florida. He married his high school sweetheart Roberta Robinson in 1971. From this union, four children were born: Erica, Arrbi, Kerry and Jason. He served as Sergeant in the United States Air Force and was Honorably Discharged on June 15, 1973. He was employed with Southern Bell/BellSouth/AT&T as a Service Technician till his retirement in 2009.
Roy is survived by his loving wife of 51 years Roberta E. Holmes; daughter, Erica Y. Holmes, sons; Arrbi Holmes (Kim), Kerry Holmes (Shannon), grandson Devin Holmes, granddaughters; Kaylyn Holmes and Riley Dawson; siblings: Willie Emmett Holmes Jr (Stacy), Gerald Holmes (Dawn Christen), Marilyn Holmes, Sandra Holmes, Peggy Holmes, and Ronald Leon Holmes; goddaughters: Yolanda Patterson, Rena Gordon, and Tameka Wright; hosts of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends who will truly miss him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Emmett and Lillian Holmes, son, Jason Holmes, and his siblings: Brenda G. Holmes, Terri Ann Holmes, and Andrea Holmes.
Roy loved football played by all teams, but his diehard team was the Pittsburgh Steelers whether winning or losing. He was a long time member of the NHRA (National Hot Rod Association). He also enjoyed fishing, working in his yard and tinkering around with his 1965 Corvette Stingray.
