Sandy was born at Ft. McPherson Army Base to James A. and Mary Frances White. Sandy was raised in East Point, Georgia and graduated from Headland High School in 1962.
In 1964, Sandy married her husband, Wayne Allen and they were married until he went to his heavenly home on September 28, 2023. Sandy and Wayne raised two daughters, Keri and Wendy. In 2011, Sandy and Wayne were blessed with their only grandchild, Valerie. Valerie was definitely the light of their life. Sandy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend to so many during her lifetime. She was known for her loving and giving ways and her gentle nature.
Sandy loved the Atlanta Braves and had been a dedicated fan since their arrival to Atlanta in 1966. Other than enjoying the Braves, she was an avid bowler until health issues prevented her from participating in the sport. Sandy also enjoyed playing cards, especially poker with her nephews and other family members; she enjoyed winning their money! She was a very good cook and her family will always remember how good her dressing, fried chicken and potato salad was and how it was enjoyed at family gatherings. Throughout her later years and despite many health struggles, Sandy maintained a positive attitude and a smile on her face.
Sandy is survived by her daughters, Keri Ray (Charles, son-in-law) and Wendy Crank, granddaughter, Valerie Elizabeth-Rose Crank . Her survivors also include her loving sisters and brother –in-laws, Brenda White, Linda and Mike Almond, Toni and Mike Wallace, sister-in-law Myra Allen and many special nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Sandy will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. followed by a graveside service.
