Tony Manuel DeWitt, Jr. was born on March 17, 1976, in Conway, South Carolina, to Tony M. DeWitt, Sr. and Onetra L. DeWitt. On September 19, 2025, Tony passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family — just one year shy of his 50th birthday. Though his time with us was shorter than we hoped, Tony’s life was full of purpose, laughter, and unforgettable love.
Growing up in a military family, Tony lived in several states and countries — South Carolina, Alabama, Panama, Virginia, North Carolina, Kansas, Louisiana, Texas, Florida, and Georgia — but he always held Conway close to his heart. Summers spent there with both sides of his family helped shape the strong, connected, and generous man he would become. Even as a child, Tony was a “busy bee” — always in motion, always finding something to do. That energy never faded. As an adult, he continued to tinker around the house, always active, always present. Tony graduated from DeRidder High School in Louisiana in 1994. He was a spirited young man who loved church, sang in the choir, and played football. And while his tall stature made him stand out, it was his warm smile, gentle spirit, and genuine kindness that truly made him unforgettable.
In 1996, Tony became a father for the first time when he welcomed his son, Tony Manuel DeWitt III. Shortly after, his journey led him to Morris Brown College — and to the love of his life, Chantel D. DeWitt. Their love story spanned 27 beautiful years, married on March 5, 2001, inspiring everyone who had the joy of witnessing their bond. A love that stood the test of time-built on faith, friendship, and unwavering commitment. Together, they built a life full of love, laughter, and purpose, raising three wonderful children: Tony III, Cierra, born in 2000, and Caeden, born in 2010.
Tony was a man of strength and character — a devoted husband, a proud and loving father, a doting grandfather, and a loyal friend. His family was the heart of his world. He showed up for every occasion,
large or small, with a smile, a helping hand, or a perfectly timed joke. He brought joy into every space — whether hosting driveway gatherings, decorating the house for Christmas and Halloween (always the best on the block), or taking long rides on his motorcycle. He loved to travel, appreciated a good home-cooked meal, and cherished meaningful moments with those he loved.
For 26 years, Tony dedicated himself to Brightstar, where he forged lasting relationships and brought excellence to everything he did. Never one to settle, Tony also launched his own security company, GYCP, in 2010. Through GYCP, he proudly provided personal protection services to high-profile clients such as Usher, Gucci Mane, Kirk Franklin, CeeLo Green, Devale Ellis, and many others. Tony approached his work — and his life — with integrity, professionalism, and a quiet confidence that earned the respect of all who knew him.
Tony was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Arthur and Verna Lee Dozier; paternal grandparents, Leo and Edna Dewitt; his uncle, Earl Hunt; and his aunt, Joyce Dewitt. He leaves to cherish his memory: his beloved wife, Chantel D. DeWitt; his children, Tony DeWitt III (Tiffany), Cierra DeWitt, and Caeden DeWitt; and his precious grandchildren, Tony DeWitt IV, Aubrey DeWitt, Trey DeWitt, and Avery DeWitt. He is also survived by his parents, Tony M. DeWitt, Sr. and Onetra L. DeWitt; his siblings, Toneta Reives and Derrick DeWitt (Renee); and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and dear friends, including:
• Aunts – Reverend Vernette Avant (Silvester), Ivanell Hunt, Terrie Hickman (Hayward)

• Mother-in-love – Laura O’Neal
• Father-in-love – Thomas Johnson (Cathy)

Tony’s life was a gift to all who knew him. His legacy will live on through his family, his friendships, his laughter, and the countless memories made over nearly five decades. He leaves behind a legacy
of love, strength, and unwavering dedication — a legacy we are all better for having known.
