lived a life filled with love, generosity, and a deep commitment to caring for others.
She was a devoted and loving wife to Elijah Phelps of Butler, Georgia who preceded
her in death. Together they built a life centered on family, kindness, and a sincere hope
of helping those in need.
Virginia had a heart that was always open to others. She was known for welcoming
people into her home, feeding them, and even giving them a place to stay when they
needed one. She believed that no one should go hungry or feel alone, and she
demonstrated that belief through her actions every day.
One of the ways she shared her love most was through her cooking. Her kitchen was
often the heart of the home, filled with warmth, laughter, and the comforting aroma of
something good cooking. Family and friends could always count on her to prepare a
meal that brought everyone together. She was especially known for her delicious peach
cobbler and sweet potato pies, which quickly became family favorites that everyone
looked forward to. For Mrs. Phelps, cooking was more than preparing food, it was her
way of showing love, comfort, and care to those around her.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her children: Farristene Richardson and Darlene
Phelps Miller. She was a proud grandmother to Cedrick Phelps, Arianne Williams,
and Keyanna Howard, and a loving great-grandmother to Kai Fields and Za’Maria
Respress.
She is also lovingly remembered by Eddie (Susie) Richardson, Cornelious (Henry
Lewis) Combs, Vera (David) Willis, and Charles Richardson, along with a host of
extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister and brother in law, Mary Lois
Battle and James Henry Battle, brothers Curtis Richardson, and Clinton Richardson.
Virginia will always be remembered as a strong and loving woman whose generosity
touched many lives. Her kindness, her open home, and the meals she lovingly prepared
will forever remain in the hearts and memories of those who knew and loved her.
Though she is no longer with us in body, her love lives on through the family she
cherished and the many lives she blessed.
