Walter Harold Nolan Jr., lovingly known as “Walt,” “Pap,” and “Ole Timer,” was born on January 7, 1958, in Atlanta, Georgia, to Walter Harold Nolan Sr. and Mary Nolan. He was raised in Red Oak, Georgia, where his roots took hold and the foundation of his life and legacy was formed. Walter passed away on October 22, 2026, leaving behind family and countless friends who will forever cherish the memories, laughter, and love he shared with them.
Walter was a hardworking and honest man who took great pride in providing for his family through his own painting business. He believed in working hard, keeping his word, and appreciating the simple things in life. He had a special gift for making people laugh and could bring a smile to anyone’s face. His humor, personality, and genuine spirit made him a friend to many.
A Baptist by faith, Walter held family, fellowship, and faith close to his heart. One of the most meaningful scriptures in his life was Psalm 23, a passage his father read to him and his siblings throughout their childhood.
Walter enjoyed riding horses, fishing, watching football, and sitting around a bonfire with a cold one in his hand. Above all, he loved having his family together. Holidays were especially dear to him, filled with family, horseback riding, laughter, and the kind of good times that become treasured memories. He believed the best moments in life were those shared with the people you love. As he would say, “Can’t put a price tag on a good time.” Those words perfectly captured the way he lived his life.
Walter was preceded in death by his father, Walter Harold Nolan Sr., and his brother, Jeff Nolan.
He leaves behind his beloved daughter, Julie Fowler, and son-in-law, Justin Fowler; his cherished grandchildren, Chael Waldrop and Braxton Fowler; his sister, Pam Brown, and brother-in-law, Billy Brown; his brother, Danny Nolan, and sister-in-law, Christy Nolan; and his nieces and nephews, Ami Dollar and her husband, Eric Dollar, Nikki Acree, Alex Gonzalez, and Michell Nolan.
He also leaves behind his best friend, Judy Price, whose care, companionship, and unwavering presence meant so much to him. The family extends special gratitude to Judy for being by his side and caring for him.
Walter was lovingly known as “Pap” by too many people to name.
Walter’s legacy is one of hard work, honesty, laughter, and a love for bringing people together. He had a way of making people feel welcome, turning ordinary moments into lasting memories, and reminding those around him that life was meant to be enjoyed. His presence will be deeply missed, but his stories will continue to be told, his laughter will live on in the memories of those who loved him, and the traditions he cherished will carry his spirit forward for generations to come.
Though his time here has come to an end, the love he gave and the memories he created will never fade.
“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.” — Psalm 23:6 (KJV)
