Yvonne Anderson Jones was born October 23, 1948 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Gilbert William Anderson Sr. and Joan Bigstaff Anderson. She was a graduate of North Central High School and earned her bachelor’s degree at Indiana University where she was named to the Dean’s List for superior academic performance.
At a young age, Yvonne attended Second Christian Church a/k/a Light of the World Christian Church. At the age of 17 years old, Yvonne committed her life to Jesus Christ at Zion Tabernacle Apostolic Pentecostal church in Indianapolis, Indiana and served there for over 30 years as a Sunday School Teacher, Musician and member of various committees. She later attended Christ Temple Apostolic Church and Harvest Prayer Center in Indianapolis. Upon moving to Georgia in 2015, she became a member of World Changers Church International in College Park, Georgia.
Yvonne was joined in holy matrimony to Joseph Jones on June 20, 1981 and was blessed with a step daughter, Dana, who was 12 years old at the time. This union was later blessed with Yvonne’s first birth child, Joy, in March of 1982.
Mrs. Jones worked for the Department of Veterans Affairs – VA Medical Center for over 40 years. After retiring in 2013 and laying to rest her husband in 2014, she moved to Georgia in 2015 to be close to her daughter and grandchildren. She quickly began serving in her community; playing the piano for local churches and volunteering for Christian City and Southwest Christian Care.
She enjoyed playing the piano, reading, volunteering, going to church, and spending time with family and friends. She rarely missed a family function or event and always showed up ready to lend a helping hand. She is most known for her sweet and gentle disposition. She was a woman of God, always ready to help without complaining or uttering a negative word. She saw the best in everyone and was adored by many. She loved the Lord and Savior of her life, Jesus Christ, and her life reflected the love of Christ on earth.
On September 21, 2023 Yvonne Anderson Jones departed this life at the age of 74. She leaves to cherish her memories a daughter Joy (Armond) Green, step daughter Dana Thomas, three grandchildren Kylah Green, Sariah Green and Messiah Green, two brothers, Gilbert Anderson Jr., Yul (Rachel) Anderson, a brother-in-law, Kevin (Leah) Jones Sr. and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
