August 26,1940-May 17,2025
Born August 26, 1940 – Amanda was the daughter of the late Ira R and Jewel E Cowart. She graduated from Aldine High School in May of 1958, and a few weeks later married Robert (Hoy) Biscamp, on a Friday, June the 13th in Houston Texas.
Amanda worked alongside her husband in building their own business, Eastex Sheet Metal, while raising their daughters living on the Northside of Houston. When they sold the business, Amanda decided to try her hand at computer programming and inventory management at companies like Glenco Scientific/Spectrum Medical Industries and Tom Wheatley Valve. She was self-taught and always learning, making her well respected in the industry.
Amanda’s hobbies included square dancing, playing 42 dominoes, traveling with Hoy and the girls, as well as the coon dogs, and camping in the “wild outdoors” as a Girl Scout troop leader. Later in life she enjoyed tending her yard, flowers and plants.
She was the best Nana with Friday night DQ date nights, trips to the Disney store and “drivers ed” in her red Ford truck. She was a great supporter of the grands and great grands in all their extracurricular activities.
She orchestrated the kitchen on Thanksgiving morning like a professional, overseeing and ensuring that the grand kids made the deviled eggs “just right”. She Made a killer home-made chocolate pie (and crust) that was second to none. That recipe has been passed down and will continue to grace our table for many years to come. She made the best Banana Pudding, with NO BANANAS for her “picky” grandkids. She always wanted to make sure that everyone’s favorite dish was on the table.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Hoy Biscamp, her parents Ira and Jewel Cowart, her siblings, Wayne Cowart and Barbara Weaver. She is survived by her daughters, Dollie (Mitch) Clark, Patty (Rick) Gabriel. Her grandchildren, Hunter (Sam) Gabriel, Michele (CJ) Doll, Kelcey (Jeffrey)Truax, Tiffany (Coby) Parham, Kasey Clark and Shannon (Jacob) Muhl. Her great grands, Maddie, Bailey, Logan, Jameson and Browning, an extended family and friends.
She will be laid to rest, next to our Dad and Biscamp family at Brookside Cemetery.
