Barbara Anne Parsons

Barbara was born April 13th, 1952, in Los Angeles, California. She was raised on a devoutly Christian ranch in Palmdale California, by a large family she adored, and was very much a “daddy’s girl”. She graduated from Palmdale High School. After High School she attended Cal Poly Pomona pursuing a degree in psychology. She finished her education at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, Ca. with a major in psychology and a minor in Native American History. She was an avid horseman and competed in various western horsemanship categories as well as barrel racing in the Southwest as a young person. In 1982 she was recognized by the LA County Fair as an “Outstanding Contributor” to the western riding association of Southern California. She moved to Central Texas in 1991 and quickly became involved in the equestrian community there, making many friends along the way.

Throughout the years she was “2nd mother” to many of her children’s friends, often opening her home and dinner table to those who were in need. The daughter of high desert ranchers, she could be gruff at times but always had a good generous heart and many people benefited from her kindness and generosity even if it was served a little curt. She loved animals and was known to take in strays of all shapes, breeds and types.

She is preceded in death by her loving parents and numerous aunts and uncles. She is survived by her children Andreas Pavlatos and his wife Morgan of Bryan Texas, Matthew Pavlatos and his wife Judy of Porter Texas, Anna Neel and Wes Childers of College Station Texas, step children Andy Pavlatos and his wife Lisa of Manville Texas, Mareanthe Pavlatos of Walnut California, grandchildren Mason, Aris, Jon, Olivia and Riley, her sisters Shelia Ginn of Muldrow Oklahoma, Cynthia Cleveland of Clovis New Mexico and Virginia Garcia of San Bernardino California, and numerous nephews and nieces.

The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses, staff and hospice of Legacy Nursing & Rehabilitation of Bryan for their tireless work during this difficult time.
