Betty Ruth (Lee) Colbert

Betty Ruth was born on June 24 in the Laneville community of Rusk County, at the home of her parents. She attended primary school in New London and Luling, Texas, before transferring to Tomball High School, where she graduated in 1958.

Betty Ruth was a lifelong member of the Women’s Missionary Union of Texas, the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, and the Daughters of the American Revolution.

In 1950, she was baptized at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

Throughout her life, Betty Ruth remained devoted to the Baptist faith. She taught Sunday school, played the church piano, and led the choir.

In 1999, Betty founded "My Momma’s Soap", inspired by her mother and her belief in natural living and caring for the earth. She lovingly managed the business until her retirement in 2015, sharing her handmade soaps and her commitment to protecting our natural resources.

Betty Ruth was preceded in death by her loving parents, Edd and Andra Lee; her brothers, Robert and McCoy; and her sisters, Mary Willie, Ella Jane, and Frances Lorraine. She is survived by her two children, Barry Colbert and his spouse, Nora, and Benae Colbert and her spouse, Anna; three grandsons; four great-grandchildren; six nieces; and a large extended family of great-nieces and great-nephews.

Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station.

A funeral service will be held at Memorial Funeral Chapel - College Station, 2901 Texas Avenue South, College Station, Texas 77845, on September 30, 2026, at 10:00 am, followed by interment at Oakland Cemetery, 501 6th Street, Navasota, TX, on September 30, 2026, at 12:00 pm.
