

Billy John Wallace, Sr., 83, of Bryan entered into rest on February 7, 2014 at the Hospice Brazos Valley Inpatient facility in Bryan. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, February 9, 2014 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station. A funeral service is set for 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 10, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church in Bryan. A Committal service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday at Norwood Cemetery in Hearne. Pallbearers are James Holley, Mack Holley, Jason Holley, Justin Leggett, Hugh Wallace, James Wallace and Barry Gordon. Honorary pallbearers are William K. Howard, the Neighborhood Coffee Bunch and Southern Pacific Railroad Employees.
Mr. Wallace was born December 28, 1930 in Robertson County, Texas the son of Hugh H. and Verta McNair Wallace. He served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. After returning from the Army, he returned to work for Southern Pacific Railroad until his retirement in 1994 after 42 years of service.
When his children were small he was actively involved in the Robertson County Fair Association and with the market lamb show with 4-H and FFA. He was a rancher for many years and enjoyed running his cow/calf operation. He married Elizabeth Howard Corn on April 22, 2000. They moved to Bryan in 2008. He enjoyed his home and neighborhood and his twice a week coffee friends. He especially enjoyed his great grandchildren and loved spending time with them.
Mr. Wallace was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Bryan, the American Legion and The Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh H. Wallace and Verta McNair Wallace; first wife Emma Lane Wallace, daughter Lynda Wallace, and brothers Zane Gray and Hugh Wallace.
Survivors include his wife Elizabeth Howard Wallace of Bryan; children Karan Holley and husband James of Granbury, Janet Smalley of College Station, Rhonda Wallace Garcia and husband Jesus of Franklin, Norman C. “Jacky” Jutson of Bryan, Billy Wallace, Jr.; special daughter-in-law Sandra Weed of Houston; sister Martha Nell Youngblood of Addison; sister-in-law Mary Helen Wallace of Hearne; grandchildren, Tara Leggett and husband Justin of Bulverde, Mack Holley and wife Megan of Weatherford, Jason Holley and wife Susannah of Weatherford, Ashley Corn of College Station, Lynda Wallace Nava and husband Juan of Lubbock, Elyssa Garcia of Franklin, Alexia Garcia of Franklin, great grandchildren, Beau and Jack Holley, Lucy and Cooper Leggett.
The family would like to thank Dr. Thomas Weber and St. Joseph Hospital and Staff. They would also like to thank Hospice Brazos Valley and staff for the caring support during this time.
