Carolyn was born October 2, 1937, in Trumann, Arkansas, to Irvin Lee Grable and Evangeline Haygood.
Carolyn retired in September 1998 from the Texas A&M Forest Service, where she worked in Payroll. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and Bible study. She was a longtime member of Wellborn Baptist Church and also attended First Baptist Church of Bryan, Texas.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard Whitham; her brother, Harold Lee Grable; and her sisters, Ina Mae, Ferda Imogene, Anna Lounettte, and Edna Laverne.
She is survived by her children: Michael Tippitt (Patricia), Regina Rikard, Becky Wingate (Freddie), Jeffery Tippitt (Donna), and Jerry Tippitt (Elaine). She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Mike Tippitt, Jeff Tippitt, Jerry Tippitt, Chris Tippitt, Matt Tippitt, Freddie Wingate, and elective Aiden Buse.
Visitation will be at Memorial Funeral Chapel, 2901 S. Texas Ave., College Station, TX 77845 between 9:00 am and 10 am. on Thursday, September 17, 2026. Services begin same day at 10:00 am. Burial will be at Mt Calvary Cemetery in Bryan, TX and will be a private family burial service.
Carolyn will be remembered for her love of family, her faith, and the many lives she touched throughout her life. She was grateful to spend her final moments surrounded by the family she loved so dearly.
The family will receive guests at mother's house 14309 Cheyenne Dr., College Station at 12:30 pm.
