

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday February 22 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station. Interment will follow at Memorial Cemetery of College Station with military honors. Visitation will be held from 5-9 p.m. Monday with a rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Charles was born March 4, 1943 in Caldwell to Willie John and Winnie Christina (Nemec) Matejka. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He married the love of his life, Sue Marino April 20, 1968. Charles retired from Texas A&M University after 49 years of service, with the majority of his work in the Residence Life Department. He loved fishing, gardening, bird watching, supporting his family “The Family Affair Bowling Team” and his many cats.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents, and a nephew, Danny Matejka.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sue Matejka of College Station; sons, John Matejka of Houston, Michael Matejka and Steven Matejka both of College Station; sisters and brothers-in-law, Charlene and Curtis Lusk of College Station, Mae and Joe Fazzino, Gladys and Larry Beasley all of Bryan; brothers and sister-in-law, Willie Matejka of Bryan, Frank and Dana Matejka of Perris, CA.; mother-in-law, Edith Marino of College Station; brothers-in-law, C.B. Marino and Joe Marino both of Bryan; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Jane Marino Reed and husband Roger, Pauline Marino all of Bryan, Sheila and John Sears of Houston, Sammie and Edward Mouser of Austin; numerous nieces and nephews; and his granddog, Fiesta.
