

Claude Denton Jr., 91 is now absent from the body and face to face with the Lord. Claude passed away on Monday, December 22, 2014, in his home in Bryan, TX. He was surrounded by his loving family and friends. He is in a place of no more sorrow, no more tears, no more pain, no more death; the old things have passed away.
Claude was born in Midland, TX on September 22, 1923 and in 1925 moved with his parents to Driscoll, TX. He was graduated from Robstown High School in 1940. He attended Texas A & I College, Kingsville, TX until he enlisted in the Army-Air Corp. in 1943 where he served until 1946. He owned and operated Denton Petroleum Co. for 55 years in Driscoll. He was active in city government by serving as City Commissioner and then Mayor for 25 years.
Claude served as president and was active in the local Lions Club, was a lifetime member of Bishop American Legion. and was a director at banks in Robstown, Corpus Christi, and Bishop for over 30 years. He was a member of the Driscoll First Baptist Church.
Claude was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Pauline "Twig" Denton. He is survived by his sister Mary Louise Rogers of Sabinal, TX; three children, Carolyn Denton of Katy, TX; Cheryl Duke Schroeder and her husband Otto of Calliham, TX; and Steve Denton and his wife Glenda of Bryan, TX; five grandchildren, Dee Ann Miller Suppes and husband John of Palo Alto, CA; Craig Miller and wife Annie of Austin, TX; Lori Duke Reilly and husband Don of Houston, TX; Lisa Duke Wix of Brennam, TX; Julian Pivaral of Bryan, TX; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services for Claude will be held at Memorial Funeral Chapel, 2901 Texas Ave. S., College Station, TX on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 11 AM.
