Claudia Maurice Phillips

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Claudia M. Coats Phillips at 88 years of age. Peacefully went to be with the Lord on May 28, 2026, at The Waterford Magnolia Memory Care, College Station, Texas.

Retired from Texaco after 20 years in the Gas Accounting Dept. in Houston, Texas. After retiring from Texaco she moved to Lovelady, Texas. She resumed her work career at the age of 70 as a bank teller at the First National Bank of Crocket, Texas until her final retirement at the age of 80 years.

Claudia lived in Lovelady for over two decades. Faithful member of Antioch Baptist Church, Lovelady, Texas.

Born in Tyler, Texas on October 11, 1937, daughter to the late James Preston Coats and Elva Inez Coats. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence S. Phillips of 49 years and two sisters, Imogene and Sarah Nell.

Claudia is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen D. Phillips and Debbie of Trinity, Texas and Paul D. Phillips and Susan of Katy, Texas; grandchildren, Stephen Paul and his wife Sara, Renee’ and her husband Aaron Cupit, and Kayla Bloom, great-grandchildren, Kyia Bloom Uphold, Korban Phillips and Charlotte Cupit.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, June 4 at Antioch Baptist Church in Lovelady. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
