Clementine Theresa (Lindemann) Ogden passed away at home on April 11, 2023 of heart failure after a short illness. She was 94 years old. Clementine was a lifelong Catholic and is now with her Savior. She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Emil E. Ogden, and her sister Johanna (Lindemann) Miller. She is survived by her six children (four boys and two girls) and their spouses: Senator Steve and Beverly Ogden, Mary Katherine (Kathy) and Jimmy Buttry, Dr. Paul and Beth Ogden, Michael and Sarah Ogden, Joseph and Karen Ogden, and Laura and Dr. Warren Young; also 23 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Clementine grew up in rural Missouri and came of age during World War II. Life was hard. In 1947, she married Emil. He said she was “the most beautiful girl in St. Clements”. They moved to Texas and together they built a life. Clementine loved her beautiful family and it is her legacy. Her doctor, Dr. Tom Burdett, insisted she stay in the hospital for a few days after each child was born just to give her a break. She was a scratch cook who always made great desserts and kept an immaculate home by herself. If Dad or the kids left stuff laying around the house, it would disappear before they knew it! Clementine was an incredible seamstress as well. She made dozens of beautiful rugs, afghans, sweaters, curtains, and dresses for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren – most without a pattern.
Sometimes referred to as “The German”, Clementine was frugal, efficient, caring, steady, and predictable. She was not preachy or ostentatious, rather a calming influence that was always there when needed. As one of her children recently remarked, “Mom is primarily responsible for how well our family turned out because she was always on our side!”
The family would like to thank Patricia Price, Darcy Munoz, and Liz Zemanek for their care of Clementine and the love they showed for her.
