Dorothy was the most caring and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved attending her grandkids and great-grandkids sporting events, school plays, and activities. She enjoyed quilting and made a quilt for each grandchild and great-grandchild. She loved going to New Braunfels every year with all the kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. She would float the Comal River and play games with everyone. This was the first year she was not able to go as her health prevented it.
Dorothy enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, reading, jigsaw puzzles, computer games, watching the birds out her window, especially the blue birds that would return every year and nest in the nesting box she provided for them. She raised and sold cockatiels and parakeets when she retired and called it her mad money that she would use to go to Las Vegas and other casinos.
Dorothy liked to collect magnets from the places she and Dad had traveled, and her refrigerator displays them all. She also collected ceramic teapots. But her most extensive collection was owls (We always joked it started with marrying my dad, Alvin. Everyone called him Al).
Dorothy liked the Dallas Cowboys, Houston Astros, and all the Aggies football, baseball, and softball teams. Her favorite holiday was always Christmas. She loved decorating the outside of her house and all along the long driveway. My dad would always say it looked like a landing strip, and he hoped that the planes from Easterwood airport would not get confused and try to land there. She also liked making her mother’s recipe of Tea cakes for all the kids to decorate.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Alvin; her parents, Cleveland and Dora Doss; five brothers and six sisters.
She leaves behind her children, Linda Williams, Tom Valigura and wife Jamie, Cindy Wilson and husband Dan; grandchildren, Staci Reynolds, Brad Williams wife Casey, Tim Wilson Wife Jennifer, Chris Wilson wife Kristin, Sarah Wilson Rhine husband Joshua, Zachary Valigura wife Tori and Kylie Valigura; great- grandchildren, Mattie, Levi and Ellie Rhine, Mason and Tyler Wilson, Sawyer and Collins Wilson, Xander, Gabby, and Kyler Reynolds, Camden and Cambell Williams, Audrey and Everett Valigura.
Her love for our family will be felt for generations to come as her love for our family and the Lord were so strong.
A special thank you to Amber Gibson at Allumine Health and Hospice, Her gentle kindness and love was deeply appreciated and will never be forgotten.
