James was a certified public accountant with Arthur Andersen for 34 years, and worked for United Healthcare and The Texas A&M University System.

James married his wife Marilyn, on April 16, 1967. They have two daughters. Joyce Whatley and her husband Walt, of Magnolia, Texas and Stephanie Brown and her husband Doug of Germantown, Wisconsin. Although I didn't know James well, I remember his comment when we told him about our grandson's recovering from a cord blood transplant for an immune system. He said, "Go home and take care of that little boy...I will pray for him." Well, now we will pray for your family, James.
