Kathy June Schlechte

A celebration of her life will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday July 9 at Brethren Church of Bryan/College Station with Revs. Joseph Polasek, Vanessa Mitchell and Rev. Dr. L.C. Johnston officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Friday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station.

Kathy was born June 5, 1952 in Brighton, CO., to Virgil and June (Jensen) Campbell. She along with her sister was raised in Omaha, NE. Kathy later joined the U.S. Coast Guard and then after her service she moved to Texas. She loved and cared for all animals, thus began her career as a registered veterinarian assistant for the small animal clinic at Texas A&M University. She was also involved in animal rescue and was a foster parent to many dogs and cats. The greatest loves in Kathy’s life were her family, especially her grandchildren, she loved to bake cookies and cupcakes for them.

Kathy was a member of Brethren Church of Bryan/College Station and served in several capacities, including the Lay Music Minister and the Christian Sisters. For a short time, she and Gene lived in Burnet where they were members of the First United Methodist Church and Kathy sang in the choir.

Well done my good and faithful servant.

Kathy is preceded in death by her parents, and her father-in-law, Bob Schlechte.

She is survived by her husband of 20 years, Gene Schlechte of Bryan; daughter, Reyne Schlechte of Bryan; sister, Gail Campbell Rador and husband Jim of Des Moines, Iowa; grandchildren, Kristopher and Naylee; mother-in-law, Iris Schlechte of Bryan; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Janice and John Dufour of Richmond; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and Cathleen Schlechte of New Tabor; nieces, Melinda Pregon and Tracy Payne and husband Fred; nephews, Jared and Darren Dufour, Michael Wiesenberger and Nicholas Schlechte.
