

Kay Harris Youngblood, 85, of College Station, passed away Monday, September 1, 2025 at her home. Visitation for Kay will be held at Memorial Funeral Chapel, 2901 S. Texas Ave., College Station, Saturday, September 6 from 10 AM until 11 AM with the funeral service to follow at 11 AM at the funeral home. The committal service will follow at Aggie Field of Honor.
Kay was born March 5, 1940 in Chillicothe, OH to the late Chester and Nell (Torian) Harris. She grew up in Waco, TX where, while in high school, she met her future husband Dave Youngblood. She briefly attended Baylor University and then attended business school and accepted a secretarial position with Great American Life Insurance Co. in Dallas, TX.
Kay and Dave married the day after he graduated from Baylor, eventually moving to Houston, Chicago, and then to College Station in 1967. Kay and Dave spent the next 58 years in College Station.
Kay was a full-time mother raising her children Shari and Curtis. She was also an avid antique buff. Kay regularly visited the monthly flea market in Canton, TX. She restored a variety of antique items from furniture to cash registers and clocks. Kay also worked at the local Heartworks gift shop for many years. She had an innate ability to relate to people and truly loved getting to know them. Along with her own pursuits, Kay spent time with Dave working on their farm, driving the tractor, fixing fences and taking care of the cattle.
In her later years Kay became an avid reader and enjoyed the Wall Street Journal, reading it cover to cover. She also kept up with and was involved in local events and politics within her College Station neighborhood and broader community. She also enjoyed taking care of the plants that decorate their home in College Station.
Kay is survived by her husband, Dave; her daughter, Shari Hammer and her husband Wayne, their children, Ethan (Katie) and Lea; and her son, Curtis, his wife Carla, and their children, Lauren and Abby.
