Leola Virginia Britain, passed away on September 5, 2020 at the age of 76 with her family present at her home in College Station. Ginger was born in Marlin, TX on October 22, 1943 to Howell & Alva McClain.
Ginger grew up in Bryan and then moved to Waco where she attended Baylor University. After marrying Jack in 1963, they relocated back to Bryan. Ginger completed her Bachelor degree in Education at Stephan F. Austin University and later went on to earn a Masters of Education from University of North Texas. Ginger continued on to a long career in education. She loved her work. In fact Ginger considered her proudest career accomplishment: “advancing from classroom teacher to Assistant Director of Elementary Curriculum”. She finally retired in 2011. Even though Ginger officially retired she never stopped being a teacher. She continued to push her grandchildren and ensure they strived for their best.
Ginger was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Chancellor Britain. She is survived by her sister Marsha Wellman and husband Jerry of Aransas Pass. Ginger is also survived by her three children: Jay Britain and wife Kayden of Boerne, Michael Britain of Keller, and Stacy Holick and husband Chris of College Station; grandchildren include Nicholas, Matthew, Jaxson, and Kendall. Ginger also survived by nephew & niece: Jeffrey Wellman of Katy and Autumn Krisl of Aransas Pass and 2 great nieces & 2 great nephews.
