

Mary Ellen Lundquist, affectionately known as “Ellie”, was born in Chicago, Illinois, on March 10, 1938, and entered God’s presence on October 27, 2021. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George; her children, Billy and Denise; her brother, Herbert Gerard; and her parents, William and Mary Norris.
Deeply saddened by her death, her family rejoiced that Mary Ellen was called home on her husband George’s birthday. After a marriage of 52 years, how fitting to be reunited with George on his birthday.
Mary Ellen received her elementary and high school education at Holy Cross Grade School and Mercy High School, both in Chicago. She attended DePaul University for two years. She and George married on April 15, 1961. They moved from Chicago to League City, Texas, in 1970; to Jersey Village in 1973; and to Lake Conroe in 2002. After George’s death in 2013, she moved to The Heritage in Montgomery, Texas.
She began a 17-year career with Melton Electric once her children started kindergarten. After retiring from there, she utilized all her office and administrative skills assisting George in his business, American Carbonic.
As a devoted parishioner at St. Mary Catholic Church, Plantersville, Texas, Mary Ellen was an enthusiastic volunteer at the parish. As a member of the Altar Society, she helped organize the receptions for family and friends after a funeral. She was also a faithful kitchen worker at the luncheons for all St. Mary’s quilt shows.
Mary Ellen was the beloved mother to Jeffery (Leslie), Mary Beth (Wally), Sharon, and Megann; a loving grandmother to Lauren, Justin (Callie), Mitch, Ben, Mallory, Emma, Alyse, Katelynn, and Kylee, and her four great-grandchildren.
She will be deeply missed by her siblings, Kathy (Ray) and Bill (Kathy), and by her many nieces and nephews. Mary Ellen was “larger than life” for family and friends and a Jersey Village legend known for entertaining and welcoming all with “open arms.”

Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Mary Catholic Church in Plantersville, Texas at 10 am on Saturday, November 13, 2021. Urn placement will follow at St. Mary Catholic Church Cemetery.
