A celebration of the life of Michael Sterling Sanders will be held on Sunday, April 26th, 3:00 p.m. at First Christian Church, 900 S. Ennis St., Bryan, Texas. He was called home by the man upstairs in the early morning hours of April 22, 2015. He was 25 years old. He had a heart as big as Texas. He was a caring ear who always just wanted everyone to be happy. He was a man of God and he was as selfless as they come.
Michael was born on December 13, 1989 to Ross and Laura Sanders. He grew up with a big brother and best friend, David Sanders and, over the years, three family labradors, Blue, Sam and Molly. He was happiest when he was with his family and he loved surfing, funny movies and jammin’ on his guitars. From an early age, Michael was an entertainer: he made movies with the family video camera; role played as a waiter and never missed a chance to sing karaoke. As he grew up, he worked countless hours to become an incredible guitar player. He played lead guitar for a winning Friendswood Battle of the Bands entrant and played at open-mic nights to joyous crowds. Michael started playing football when he was six. His dedication to the sport he loved culminated in a starting position for his Friendswood High School team. He even dabbled in stand-up comedy. He greatly enjoyed going to concerts and was a part of a World Championship Odyssey of the Mind team.
Michael’s emotional intelligence was off-the-charts; he thought deeply; he loved truly; he hated conflict; and he was emphatically appreciative. He took good care of his Nana. He was nearing completion of his hard-fought degree at his beloved Texas A&M University when God told him his work on this earth was done. He is now free.
Michael is survived by his mother and father, Laura Leigh Sanders and Ross Sterling Sanders; his brother, David Ross Sanders, sister-in-law, Gloria Renee Sanders, and nephew Levi Joseph Sanders; his grandmothers, Anna Carolyn Hoyle and Shirley Maxwell Sanders; his aunts and uncles, Elizabeth Sanders, Julie and John Hoyle, Jr., and Connie and Floyd Sanders II; and his cousins, Winston Hoyle, Jennifer Hoyle, Floyd Sanders III, and Jesse Brazier.
He is preceded by his grandfathers, John Richard Hoyle and Floyd Hans Sanders.
Floral remembrances may be sent to Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station, Texas or memorials can be made to Coastal Conservation Association - Texas ccatexas.org for donations.
Michael lives on in our hearts, souls and minds. He would want it known that he loved you all.
