peacefully on May 3, 2018 surrounded by her family in Fredericksburg, TX. Visitation will be held at
Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station on Friday, May 11, 2018 5pm – 7pm. A celebration of
Pattsie’s life will be held at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station at 1:30 pm on Saturday May
12, 2018. Interment will be held thereafter at the College Station Municipal Cemetery.
Pattsie was the first of two children born to Frank Redden Andrews and Mildred May Andrews in
Lubbock, TX. She was raised in Pyron, Hermleigh and on her family’s ranch in Albany, TX. She
graduated from Albany High School in 1952 and attended Hardin Simmons University graduating in
1956 with a BS degree in elementary education. In the summer of 1956, Pattsie served as a
counselor at Camp Mystic in the Hill Country near Hunt, TX where she met Keith who was
a counselor at Camp Stewart. The two fell in love and married in 1957 in Albany. The couple settled
in Bryan-College Station, Keith’s hometown. Pattsie taught third grade in nearby Snook until they
welcomed Laura, the first of their three children, soon followed by Andrea, and Gary. The family
called Bryan-College Station home until 2005, when Pattsie and Keith moved to Fredericksburg, TX.
The family attended First Baptist Church in College Station and later in Bryan where Pattsie served
as a Sunday School teacher and Youth sponsor for 17 years. Pattsie’s passion in life centered on
helping young people grow in the Spirit which led her, together with Keith, to serve as chaperone
and counselor for annual youth ski trips and summer retreats in the mountains of New Mexico.
Pattsie also volunteered with Meals on Wheels and sang in the choir. Pattsie loved people and
enjoyed living life to the fullest. She and Keith were members of the Circle Squares Dance Club for
35 years and were avid bridge players. Later in life, Pattsie studied watercolor painting and produced
numerous works which will be cherished by her family for generations. Pattsie was a dedicated
member of the Aggie family and served as president of the TAMU Mother’s Club even after her
children had graduated from A&M. Pattsie loved gardening and won numerous awards for her skills
in horticulture and artistic arrangement as a member of the Brazos Valley Women’s Garden Club.
Pattsie is preceded in death by her husband Keith. She is survived by her brother Frank Andrews
and his wife Lynda of Crowley, TX, three children – Laura Cook of Fredericksburg, TX, Andrea
Konuma of Hayama, Japan, and Gary Haines of The Colony, TX and their spouses Dale, Hiroshi
and Krista respectively. She will be fondly remembered as Grandma Mimi by five grandchildren
Charlie, Natalie, Parker, Seth, and Karsen. Nieces, nephews, extended family, and life-long friends
will remember her warm hospitality, strong Christian faith, sweet yet courageous spirit, and good
home cooking that graced our celebrations and comforted us in times of sorrow.
