Peggy excelled as a wife, mother, and homemaker. She was an excellent cook, seamstress, quilter, and hostess, and she created a home that was laughter and joy-filled. Her buttermilk pie was superb, and her beautiful quilts will warm many loved ones for years to come. She wanted her children to know and love the Lord more than anything, and she set an example by leading family devotionals, teaching bible classes to all ages, displaying hospitality, and, of course, regularly attending church services. For several years, the Albright home abutted the church property, and at that time even the family dog never missed a service. Peggy’s children had no doubt that their mother was a woman of very strong faith, and witnessed her commitment to serving the Lord every day. They also knew she loved them and their father wholeheartedly. This love grew to include every grandchild and great-grandchild born. She and Harry proudly displayed Christmas stockings with all their names every year, even though it was difficult to keep up! Peggy was a woman of prayer, and it was seldom that she didn’t end a conversation with her children saying sincerely “I pray for you every day.”
She was an avid reader. She loved mysteries and historical fiction, but also read articles from magazines and newspapers that she would kindly cut out and give to those she thought could benefit. She never quite grasped the internet (when she asked her grandson to use his iPhone to google some random fact, She said “jiggle it!”) but the library was her second favorite destination. If she ever asked you “what time is it?” the correct response was ALWAYS “Dr. Pepper Time!”
Above all, Peggy loved God’s Word. The worn bible beside her bed attests to her many hours of study. She loved to listen to sermons on tape over and over again. She loved Ladies Bible Class, any kind of church fellowship, Ladies’ Days, wedding and baby showers, working with the funeral luncheon ladies, visiting shut-ins and nursing home residents, teaching 3rd grade bible class (she did this for 25 years), and she especially loved singing hymns.
Peggy was a people person, outgoing and warm. She could really talk, but she was also a good listener. She was an encourager, and liked visiting with young people to learn their dreams and goals. She adored babies, and nobody could bathe an infant better than she. During her retirement years at A&M Church of Christ, she helped make dozens (if not hundreds) of baby quilts for every baby born into the church family. She was the quintessential servant of Christ, and we will miss her every day.
There will be a visitation for friends and family of Peggy Albright on Friday, January 22, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Chapel College Station, 2901 Texas Avenue. A Celebration of Peggy’s life will be held on Sunday, January 24, 2021 at the A&M Church of Christ in the auditorium at 2:00pm. Peggy will be buried beside Harry at the Aggie Field of Honor on Monday, January 25, at 10:00 a.m.
At all events, masks and other safety protocols will be observed.
Instead of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in her memory to some of her favorite ministries: Program for Humanitarian Aid, Eastern European Missions, Aggies for Christ, and World Bible School.
