

Robert (Bob) Gordon McAlpin, 66, of Navasota passed away on Wednesday, 28 July 2010 at the Navasota Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 31, 2010 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station with Pastor Chris Snidow officiating. Burial will follow at the College Station Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm, Friday, July 30 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station.
Bob was born December 29, 1943 in Seagraves, Texas to Lora and Gordon McAlpin. He grew up in Billings, Montana and Forth Worth, Texas and relocated to the BCS area in 1978. He served as Deacon in the A&M Presbyterian Church in College Station and was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church at the time of his death. He had resided in the Navasota Nursing Home since August 2001.
Bob was a generous, cheerful and humorous man, loved by all who came to know him. He lived by the axiom “never give in, never give out, and never give up.”
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his sisters, Nancy and her husband Benny Gallaway of College Station, and Anna Scott of Waco, Texas; his nephew Daniel Strite and his wife Nan and their children (Annika and Helen); his niece Kezia and her husband Sam Ruiz and their children (Paul and David); his niece Karen and her husband Brent Looby and their daughter (Jessica Alderete) and his niece Shelly and her husband Ray Garcia and their son (John Avery).
Memorials may be made to the Navasota Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at 1405 E. Washington, Navasota, Texas 77868.
