Sandra F. Lawrence

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 18, at Wellborn Baptist Church, 14575 FM 2154 Road in College Station, Texas 77845. Interment will follow in Wellborn Cemetery.

Sandra was born in Dryden, Virginia May 19, 1947. She spent her youth in Salem, Indiana growing up on her family farm. She met and married Dorman Lawrence in 1965 in North Carolina. They had their only child, Todd Lawrence, in 1972 and made College Station their home beginning in 1977. She divorced in 1982 and raised her son on her own as a strong single mother.

Sandra worked many years at the cable company and attended Blinn College. She had a fiercely independent spirit and enjoyed her work, gardening, pets, and time with family and friends. In 2002 she suffered a serious automobile accident that would have left most people demoralized and feeling sorry for themselves. Sandra faced her injuries as she faced all challenges, with strength and determination.

She served as both, vice president and president of the Millican Ladies Club, was an active member of the A&M Garden Club, Wellborn Baptist Church, and many other community groups.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Mary Fitts; and her sister, Helena Carlson.

Sandra is survived by her son, Todd Lawrence, and his wife Elizabeth; her grandchildren, Shawn, Sarah, Laura, Jessica, and Amber; her sister, Audrey Thompson and her husband Paul; her brother-in-law, Gaynor Carlson; her many nieces and nephews, and countless friends whom she loved and who loved her.
